as a boy, i fell in love with photography the day my uncle showed me my way around an ‘instamatic’ camera. on one amazing day, i had a black and white negative in my hands of an image of a double-decker bus i had taken just hours before. utterly magical, i was forever hooked.
later, my love for the image grew with my architectural education, but unlike the buildings i was trained to design, my photographic side gravitated to the natural landscape.
my deep passion is the natural world and our environment and especially, whenever it relates to humankind: capturing our fingerprint, our interventions and cultural processes; the visual beauty of human activity embedded within the landscape with effects of light, time, weather and decay.
i am never happier than when outdoors with my camera looking for that ideal location and awaiting the shifting light and scene to show itself; that ideal image coming from a journey both physical and internal.
i am driven to capture, protect and promote appreciation of our precious environment through intimate imagery, with the hope of a more sustainable world.
my other 'me' is an architectural project manager, married with two amazing children and an overemotional dog, josie, living in the south of england.
